
A status code provides critical information about the current state of an air segment within a PNR. These codes are typically appear just before the number of seats held. For example, in this PNR:

There are 50 possible statuses that can be associated with an AirSegment. From HK (Holds Confirmed) to the dreaded HX (Cancelled - Inventory Adjusted) meaning the airline has the seat. These codes can provide a wealth of information about the state of a reservation.

| DS | Sold Via Backbone | The reservation was sold via a backbone system, which is a core network system for processing bookings. |
| DX | Interactively Cancelled | The reservation was cancelled interactively, possibly by an agent or automated system. |
| DW | Have Waitlisted | The passenger has been placed on a waitlist. |
| FS | Sold on Freesale Basis | The reservation was sold on a freesale basis, meaning it was sold without needing specific inventory allocation. |
| GK | Passive Confirmed | The reservation is confirmed but marked as passive, similar to AK. |
| GL | Passive Waitlist | The passenger is on a waitlist and the status is passive, similar to AL. |
| GN | Passive Request | A request has been made for a reservation, but it is marked as passive, similar to AN. |
| GS | Group Sold | The reservation is part of a group booking that has been sold. |
| HA | Have Requested | A request for a reservation has been made. |
| PN | Pending Need | The reservation request is pending and has not been confirmed yet. |
| HK | Holds Confirmed | The reservation is confirmed and on hold. |
| HL | Have Listed (on waiting list) | The passenger is listed on a waiting list. |
| HN | Have Requested | A request for a reservation has been made, similar to HA. |
| HS | Have Sold | The reservation has been sold. |
| HW | Have Waitlisted | The passenger has been placed on a waitlist, similar to DW. |
| HX | Cancelled – Inventory Adjusted | The reservation has been cancelled and the inventory has been adjusted accordingly. |
| IN | If Not holding - Need | A need for the reservation exists if it is not currently being held. |
| IX | If Holding - Cancel | The reservation should be cancelled if it is currently being held. |
| KK | Confirming | The reservation is in the process of being confirmed. |
| KL | Confirming from Waiting List | The reservation is being confirmed from the waitlist. |
| LK | Guaranteed Sold Segment | The segment of the reservation is sold with a guarantee. |
| LL | List (add to waiting list) | The passenger has been added to the waitlist. |
| LS | Link Sold | The reservation has been linked and sold. |
| NA | Need Specified on Alternate Segment | There is a need for the reservation on an alternate segment specified. |
| NK | Super Guarantee Sold Segment | The segment of the reservation is sold with a super guarantee. |
| NN | Need (request status) | There is a need for the reservation, request status. |
| NO | No Action Taken | No action has been taken on the reservation request. |
| OK | Secured Sold (option confirmed) | The reservation is sold and the option has been confirmed. |
| OX | Cancel If Following Request Avail. | Cancel the reservation if the following request is available. |
| RR | Reconfirmed | The reservation has been reconfirmed. |
| SS | Sold Within This Transaction | The reservation was sold as part of the current transaction. |
| TK | Confirmed seg – Timings Changed | The segment of the reservation is confirmed, but the timings have changed. |
| TL | Waitlisted Seg – Timing Changed | The segment of the reservation is waitlisted, and the timings have changed. |
| TN | Requested Seg – Timing Changed | The segment of the reservation is requested, and the timings have changed. |
| UC | Unable – Segment Closed | Unable to confirm the reservation because the segment is closed. |
| UN | Unable – Service not Provided | Unable to confirm the reservation because the service is not provided. |
| US | Unable to Sale – Have Waitlisted | Unable to sell the reservation but have waitlisted the passenger. |

| WK | Was Confirmed | The reservation was previously confirmed but the status has changed. |
| XK | Cancel – Inhabit Notification | Cancel the reservation and send a notification of the cancellation. |
